KAIST Utilizes Thermal Imaging Camera Principle
Real-time check of cough sound location and frequency
Preliminary tests show 87% accuracy

In order to minimize the spread of Covid-19, patients with cough symptoms should be detected quickly along with fever to isolate and treat them. Pixar Bay
Fever and cough are typical symptoms of Covid-19. In order to prevent the spread of the infection as soon as possible, people with these symptoms should be able to be identified, isolated, and cured. In addition, respiratory infections such as Corona 19 need to be checked in non-contact conditions as there is a high risk of air transmission. This is why many public facilities use thermal imaging cameras to monitor the temperature of visitors. Another major symptom, however, is the lack of development of a cough-tracking device.

On August 3rd, an article about the "Coughing Recognition Camera" co-developed by SM Instruments with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) was reported through the Hankyoreh News.
At a time when the Corona 19 virus is spreading, the use of a "cough-recognition camera" in public places and many dense facilities will greatly help prevent and detect the virus early.
